Day 6 of Reverb10: Make

Prompt: What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

I go through “knitting binges” and I’m in the throes of one now. It’s mostly a cold weather thing.  Last week I made a scarf for a dear friend who underwrote a big portion of my 2010 road trip and continues giving me moral support. I’ve got about ten projects on the needles now — I get tired of the big projects and intersperse them with smaller ones that give me a faster sense of accomplishment.

I also collage to help me access my deepest thoughts and aspirations.  Love taking classes from Catherine Anderson.

Of course writing is a creative process, and I’ fortunate to have a creative profession.

As for making time for creativity, I do so, at the expense of tidy closets and a dust-free home. I’ve learned to prioritize!

Materials? Knitting has to be made from fibers I enjoy handling. No matter how beautiful, if I don’t like the way it feels I won’t use it. I just discovered a blend of alpaca and merino wool that I could sleep with.
