Seeking Refuge introduces Charlotte, NC to recently-arrived Iranian refugees fleeing religious persecution in their homeland. As members of the Baha’i Faith, they are denied jobs, education and sometimes their lives because of their religious beliefs. While the refugees are grateful to be in the US, the article shows how difficult it is to start anew in this Sunbelt city.

Breathe In, Breathe Out is a personal account of the financial meltdown as seen from Charlotte, NC, the country’s second-largest banking center. It chronicles my ride on the economic rollercoaster, from financial services executive to business owner forced to shutter for good.
